Kaya Scodelario’s character Laura Harrison is fictional
A fictional miniseries based on Ayrton Senna da Silva, a Brazilian racing legend who won the Formula 1 World Drivers’ Championship three times. It is based on journalists who covered Ayrton Senna’s career. In addition, Scodelario’s family is Brazilian from Senna’s native São Paulo. He is also fluent in Brazilian Portuguese. Senna’s first race in England is shown on a racetrack next to a mountain range. There are no mountains in England – especially Norfolk, which is famous for its flat landscape.
It is boring and shallow
It is quite clear that the Senna – Da Silva family had their own hand, and a very strict one at that. Senna is described as a saint. He is always kind and nice and tolerates everything that is done to him. There are no conflicts, except with Prost and Balestre. The dialogue is so incredibly flat that any daily soap is literature. I want to be first.
He’s the best
I’m the fastest. I want to win. But it’s dangerous! But I want to win. But you already won. But I want to win again.
Didn’t he have flaws?
What about Senna’s female stories? It would have had potential. People like that don’t exist. But when his mother is involved in writing the script… his parents seem like saints too. Always understanding, always patient, kind, tolerant and noble.
Yes, of course
However, the action visuals are top notch. Not exactly groundbreaking, but very impressive. The sound design was particularly wonderful.
