Author and rehabilitator Terry Masear wants to save all of Los Angeles’ injured hummingbirds. Terry takes in the most fragile patients through his volunteer hummingbird rescue program, but the road to survival is filled with uncertainty and drama. Throughout Sally Aitken’s intimate and moving documentary, we interact with Terry’s hummingbird patients, including Cactus, Jimmy, Wasabi, Raisin, and Mikhail, celebrating their small victories and lamenting their small tragedies. Through the eyes of America’s busiest bird rehabilitator, each bird becomes memorable, powerful, and heroic. As he nurses injured hummingbirds back to health, Terry finds himself on his own transformative journey, revealing a captivating and visually magical story of love, healing, and the delicate beauty of small acts of greatness.
